Night Rating – LAPL(A) SEP or PPL(A) SEP

 

Unlock the freedom to fly after sunset and add an exciting new dimension to your flying career. Whether you’re pursuing your LAPL(A) or PPL(A) SEP, we will guide you step-by-step through the UK CAA’s Night Rating requirements, helping you become a confident and capable night pilot.

Course Structure & Requirements
 

In line with UK CAA Part-FCL, our Night Rating course comprises:

  • 5 Hours Night Flying:

  • »  3 hours dual instruction, including flight planning, departure and arrival procedures under night conditions.

  • »  1 hour dual cross-country navigation, featuring at least one dual cross country flight of ≥50 nm.

     

  • Solo Experience:

  • »  5  solo take-offs and 5 solo full-stop landings at night, building your confidence on unfamiliar aerodromes

     

  • Training Standards:

  • »  Conducted at Enstone Aerodrome and Oxford Airport by our CAA-approved Instructors.

  • »  Complete instrument flight basics (for LAPL(A) licence holders) before starting night training.

  • »  All training must be finished within 6 months of your first night flight.

Who Can Apply?

  • LAPL(A) SEP Holders: Must complete the basic instrument flight training before embarking on night rating lessons.

  • PPL(A) SEP Holders: Straightforward entry, provided your skill test is current.

  • Minimum Age & Medical: 17 years old, with a valid UK CAA Class 2 (LAPL) or Class 1 (PPL) medical certificate.
